The inaugural Mining in Motion 2025 Summit – Ghana’s leading platform for the gold mining sector – was held from June 2 to 4, 2025, in Accra. The event convened over 600 global mining stakeholders, including more than 50 companies from across the mining value chain, as well as government officials from Ghana, the wider region, and international partners, to explore the future of mining in Ghana and across Africa.
Held under the theme “Sustainable Mining & Local Growth – Leveraging Resources for Global Impact,” the summit featured a comprehensive, multi track program with over 62 speakers and 20+ seminars, placing particular focus on the state of artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) in Africa.An initiative of His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, King of the Ashanti Kingdom, Mining in Motion highlighted the critical importance of collaboration between traditional authorities, governments, large-scale miners, local communities, and global investors in formalizing and scaling ASM operations to drive economic resilience and sustainable development.
