Melissa Correa is an accomplished industrial engineer with a master’s degree in strategic management, and a strong specialization in cooperation programs within the mining sector. With over a decade of experience in formalization, technical assistance, training, and accreditation, she has been instrumental in promoting responsible mining practices in Latin America and beyond.

For the past four years, she has been part of Swiss Better Gold (SBG), initially serving as Technical Coordinator for the Colombian team, and more recently as an Extensions Specialist. In this role, Melissa has been leading efforts to evaluate and expand SBG’s capacity to develop new Artisanal and Small-Scale Gold Mining (ASGM) supply chains in Brazil, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Ghana, and soon in Ivory Coast and Mongolia.

She is deeply committed to sustainable mining, international collaboration, and building responsible gold supply chains that uplift communities and contribute to inclusive economic development.
