Eduard Cornew
Eduard Cornew is Co-founder, President, and CFO of Mwamba, a Tanzanian-based gold mining company operating at the intersection of large-scale and artisanal mining. He leads the company’s strategic direction, financial operations, and stakeholder engagement across its dual portfolio: a large-scale exploration joint venture with Barrick Gold in the Nzega District and a fast-scaling artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM) business focused on community-based mine co-development and mercury-free processing in Buziba, Geita Region.
Under Eduard’s leadership, Mwamba has become a recognized innovator in sustainable mining, operating one of the largest responsibly sourced ASGM gold production facilities in Africa. He also oversees Mwamba’s collaborations with leading public, private, and multilateral organizations to advance formalization, ESG standards, and inclusive development in the gold supply chain.
At the center of this effort is Wazi, Mwamba’s end-to-end supply chain traceability platform. Designed to vertically integrate artisanal miners, processors, and end buyers, Wazi facilitates ore aggregation and the efficient, transparent exchange of responsibly produced gold and financial products across the partner ecosystem.
Eduard brings a background in strategy, investment, and development finance. Prior to founding Mwamba, he worked at Boston Consulting Group advising on private equity transactions and corporate strategy. Today, he splits his time between the Mwamba processing plant in Buziba, Tanzania and his personal residence in Paris, France.
